My research integrates plant ecology and biogeography, specifically exploring how fire drives evolution in Mediterranean flora and shapes the biodiversity of Mediterranean heathlands. I examine the pivotal role of the Strait of Gibraltar in the distribution of Ibero-North African species, while also investigating the biotic interactions and specialized ecology of the rare carnivorous plant Drosophyllum lusitanicum.
